Biological Dentistry: Holistic Care in Aspen and Basalt
Consider the Health of Your Whole Body
When you think about a dental issue, do you typically think about how it affects your overall health and well-being? Many of our patients are unaware of the negative effects that traditional dental techniques and treatments can have on their whole body.
We’ve built a practice that focuses on the holistic well-being of our patients so we can safely improve their oral health while also benefiting their entire physical and psychological health. As a mercury-free practice that offers biocompatible materials, your health is more protected through our safe and effective techniques and technologies we use.
Some of our highly sensitive dental patients may experience a reaction to the materials we use during procedures. This reaction is caused by the immune system rejecting the material and reacting against it.
To avoid this issue, Elevate Dental Wellness uses serum compatibility testing through Clifford Consulting and Research. This testing tells us which materials your body will accept or reject so we can plan a treatment most suitable for you and your health.
Elevate Dental Wellness is a fluoride-free practice. We firmly believe that fluoride has numerous negative systemic health effects and there are countless studies that prove it does very little to prevent tooth decay. For more information on this, we strongly encourage you to visit FluorideAlert.org.
As holistic dentists, Drs. Van Gorden and Steinbach use less toxic methods to enhance and protect your teeth. All materials used in our office are fluoride-free, BPA free, and Bis-GMA free to ensure the utmost safety.
Elevate Dental Wellness offers oral health care products from various companies that share the same philosophy. We use clean products that protect and enhance the oral microbiome.
We provide our patients with a natural option for dental care that doesn’t involve the chemicals and additives found in many other oral hygiene products. Many patients notice the difference our holistic approach has on their well-being and are always feeling more rejuvenated than ever before.
Your nutrition plays an important role in the health of your teeth and mouth, so Drs. Van Gorden and Steinbach will take time during your appointment to talk to you about your nutritional habits. They can make recommendations for changes to your diet that can help you improve your oral health and overall well-being.
If you want to explore your nutritional choices in-depth, they can recommend you to a nutritional counselor for more help. We hope to bring comprehensive nutritional counseling to our natural dentistry practice soon!
Some oral health concerns can be helped with nutritional supplements. Dr. Steinbach offers supplementation from several sources including Pure Encapsulations and Douglas Laboratories. Based on your oral health concerns, she can even recommend the supplements that will benefit the health of your teeth and gums the most.
Ozone therapy can help kill bacteria, parasites, viruses, and fungi in your mouth. It can also help prevent tooth decay, slow the progression of periodontal disease, decrease pain from mouth ulcers, and reduce any tooth sensitivity you may experience. With ozone therapy, we use ozonated water, gas, and oils to treat your teeth and the tissues of your mouth.
Dental amalgams/silver fillings all contain approximately 50% mercury along with other metals. Mercury is the most toxic, non-radioactive substance on Earth and is an extremely potent neurotoxin. We are very proud to have never placed a silver mercury filling in our office and never will! We have also assisted hundreds of people in becoming mercury-free and have done so by following a very strict protocol developed by the IAOMT. We are one of a few SMART (Safe Mercury Amalgam Removal Technique) Certified offices in the state of Colorado.
While we will never encourage you to have mercury fillings removed in the absence of proof of a mercury allergy or toxicity, however, we will encourage you to research topics related to the use of mercury in dentistry as it relates to the environment and your health through the IAOMT, IABDM, and Dr. Tom McGuire.
