About Elevate Dental Wellness in Basalt, CO

Our Mission Statement

After returning from a year-long trip through Central and South America, Drs. Van Gorden and Steinbach developed a spectrum of significant health issues. Through a combination of research and integrative and natural therapies, they came across the philosophy and practice of biological dentistry.

Over the last four years, they’ve pored over information and courses about the importance of:

  • Maintaining oral health for the benefit of total body health
  • The role that toxic mercury plays in disease
  • How to protect themselves and their patients by removing mercury safely
  • The benefits of ozone therapy
  • The reasoning behind offering biocompatible dental materials testing

When the time was right and the opportunity to build a new office arose, Drs. Van Gorden and Steinbach jumped at the chance to build their biological dental practice. Learning about and practicing biological dentistry has breathed new life into their careers as they have shifted from the practice of dentistry into the practice of dental wellness.

This is their opportunity to integrate your dental care into total body care and help you achieve the highest state of health.

Meet Your Holistic Dentists

Schuyler Van Gorden, DDS

Dr. Van Gorden grew up in Eau Claire, Wisconsin. He graduated from Ripon College with a degree in Chemistry, and later completed dental school at the University of Colorado. Dr. Van Gorden worked as an associate dentist in Denver before acquiring his own practice in Glenwood Springs, where he practiced for nearly a decade.

In 2012, he and his wife Dr. Steinbach sold their dental practices and spent a year exploring Central and South America, ultimately returning to the Roaring Fork Valley in June 2013.

What Elevates Dr. Van Gorden

Dr. Van Gorden enjoys helping the local underserved population by practicing at the Mountain Family Health Center in Rifle. His position at Mountain Family has allowed him to become an adjunct professor at the University of Colorado School of Dentistry, giving him the opportunity to help educate undergraduate dental students in their clinical rotations.

When Dr. Van Gorden isn’t practicing dentistry, you can find him on the river fishing, on the mountain skiing, or traveling with his wife Dr. Steinbach.

Becky Steinbach, DDS

Dr. Steinbach grew up in Fort Collins, Colorado. She graduated from Colorado State University with a degree in Anthropology, and minors in Anatomy and Neurobiology, and completed dental school at the University of Colorado School of Dentistry in 2004.

After graduating, Dr. Steinbach practiced dentistry in Wisconsin, Chicago, and other parts of Illinois until she moved back home in 2008 — purchasing a dental practice in Louisville in early 2009. Drs. Steinbach and Van Gorden sold the practice in 2012 and spent a year traveling south of the equator until moving to the Roaring Fork Valley.

What Elevates Dr. Steinbach

When Dr. Steinbach isn’t in the office, you’ll find her wrangling their two dogs, Jax and Daisy. She also enjoys fishing, hiking with friends, learning how to ski, and spending time with her husband Dr. Van Gorden.
